I use this CD comp as a background soundtrack, and I’m browsing carefully the pages of Patrick Campbell-Lyons’ book “Psychedelic Days”, in a desperate try to check if I missed any interesting detail, though it’s the 6^th or maybe 7^th time of reading… Title songs, lyrics and melodies are blending inside my head with faces and places… Second Thoughts, “Wings Of Love”, Speedy Keen, Simon Simopath, Alex Spyropoulos,  “Lonely Boy”, Island Records, “Pentecost Hotel”, Guy Stevens, Mickie Most, “Rainbow Chaser”, Simon Dupree, All Of Us, “Tiny Goddess”, Salvator Dali, “Darling Darlene”… This is another highly recommended starter for all those who haven’t got (YET) Nirvana’s first 2 albums, or for those who just want a CD to avoid stopping reading and having to get up to change sides of the vinyl. TimeLord Michalis

Polytoxicomane Philharmonie are by now established in the underground as one of the most weird musical units of neo-prog-avant garde-psychedelic music! This is a side project created by singer H.M. Fishli (vocals, percussion, nose flute) along with Austrian singer Michaela Flame (vocals, keyboards) with the help of Emir Of Quaver on drums, Wum on guitar and Onkel on bass. This album is going to agitate the stagnant water of the whole Underground Universe! No more talking… Album takes off with “The Eternal End” (9:31), a fast tune with an explosive acid guitar sound while the complexity of the sounds makes it a psychedelic funky acid dub track! “Lascivious Dungeon Tales” (9:57) plays with hyperspace in a psych scary-like atmosphere, vocals are coming from Hades in a ambient-like dirge becoming a psychedelic New Age prayer, it’s like you hear Dead Can Dance on Acid! In a psych vein with whispering vocals and trippy guitar starts the “Novelette Of Bitter And Sweet” (17:15)… Life’s A Journey… this is an interesting experiment of sounds and voices from the depths of the mind in a delirium of verses and poetry. The same psych vein with weird sounds dressed by female vocals continues in “Death Watch Beetle Goes To St. Brownie” (4:55) but in a more mystical way. “The Owl, The Bell And The Club Of Veterans On The Top Of St. Brownie” (22:36) starts in a spacey groovy psych way becoming weirdly ‘out-of-space’ acting like a psych mantra for the soul, really mind-expanding with a melancholy organ sound while guitars are getting heavier, it seems that the singer is having an out-of-body experience in a psychedelic vein! Another dominated-by-singer’s-voice track is “Ride Ridden Shine” (11:56) that starts like a psych improvisational experiment in an eerie jazzy atmosphere. Last one is “Homesick Tours” (10:23), a trippy psychedelic slow-driven dreamy relaxing tune with a few effected sounds. Think I’m inside Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast… Think I’m going to break a few eggs and make a psychedelic omelet too… TimeLord Michalis

The Chemistry Set (having a remarkable Underground ‘career’) reformed in 2008 after a 17 years break, and this is their 2^nd 7” vinyl release on Fruits de Mer, band’s mother-figure label. Single contains 2 original compositions and 1 cover. “Come Kiss Me Vibrate And Smile” is a powerful sanguine fresh modern poppy-psych song with discreet fuzzy and backwards guitar sound. “Time To Breathe” is a slow number so 60s inspired, so British neo-psych! Lyrics like “Let the World pass by, it’s Time to Breathe…” are melting perfectly with the guitar driven psychedelic vein and the sublime harmony vocals. Their cover version to Tomorrow’s “Hallucinations” is pretty much the same as the original with a freshly modern touch that shows great musicianship despite the 17 years of “hiatus”. If this one is just a precursor to their full album, then I dare to say that the over-20-years anticipation for an album was definitely worth waiting for! TimeLord Michalis

This double LP release collects both of the limited (and now sold-out) Causa Sui albums. Pwet’r Sessions 1 and 2. I learned of them from their debut album on Nasoni Records back in 2005 and from then on I am a follower! Danish band consists of Jakob Skøtt, Jonas Munk, Rasmus Rasmussen and Jess Kahr and their mission is to perform inspired improvisational psych-kraut-prog-stoner rock, and believe me they manage to do so in an astonishing powerful modern psych heavy way! 2 splendid vinyls, 9 tracks varying from 4:26min to 23:27min, on an endless free jam session with Hendrix, Holger Czukay, Guru Guru, Randy Holden, Blue Cheer, Iggy, Ash Ra Tempel, Sabbath, Hawkwind, Popol Vuh, the list will go on and on… Highly recommended to open minded psych-heads out there, and I know we are many…  TimeLord Michalis

Bliss” is the 4-track debut EP by this international quintet consisting of 2 Americans, 2 Swedish and 1 French. The band got together in September 2011 when Cory Berry (drummer who has now switched to guitar) and Zack Anderson (bass) wanted to form their own band (both former members of Radio Moscow). They joined forces with lead singer Elin Larsson, drummer Jonas Askerlund and guitarist Dorian Sorriaux. The music here is Heavy, psychedelically influenced with lots of Blues references. Hot guitar licks, sharp bass lines, powerful drumming and really harrowing female vocals. Despite their short ‘existence’ the music is so professionally tight, full of energy and freshness all over the EP. Band introduces themselves with “Bliss”, a killer number that has ups and downs singed in the charming singer’s mother language! “Astralplane” is more bluesy but heavy too, a slow poisonous torturing number. Side B opens with “Devil Man” and comparisons to Elin’s voice with Ellen McIlwaine or Janis are inevitable and welcomed. A real strong tune with lots of heavy guitars and a dynamic rhythm section. EP closes with the melancholic 70s influenced ballad “Little Sun”. I’m only wishing this not be circumstantial ‘cause I’d like to have a full album of them in the near future… A Pill so hot that it burns…  TimeLord Michalis
