Polytoxicomane Philharmonie are by now established in the underground as one of the most weird musical units of neo-prog-avant garde-psychedelic music! This is a side project created by singer H.M. Fishli (vocals, percussion, nose flute) along with Austrian singer Michaela Flame (vocals, keyboards) with the help of Emir Of Quaver on drums, Wum on guitar and Onkel on bass. This album is going to agitate the stagnant water of the whole Underground Universe! No more talking… Album takes off with “The Eternal End” (9:31), a fast tune with an explosive acid guitar sound while the complexity of the sounds makes it a psychedelic funky acid dub track! “Lascivious Dungeon Tales” (9:57) plays with hyperspace in a psych scary-like atmosphere, vocals are coming from Hades in a ambient-like dirge becoming a psychedelic New Age prayer, it’s like you hear Dead Can Dance on Acid! In a psych vein with whispering vocals and trippy guitar starts the “Novelette Of Bitter And Sweet” (17:15)… Life’s A Journey… this is an interesting experiment of sounds and voices from the depths of the mind in a delirium of verses and poetry. The same psych vein with weird sounds dressed by female vocals continues in “Death Watch Beetle Goes To St. Brownie” (4:55) but in a more mystical way. “The Owl, The Bell And The Club Of Veterans On The Top Of St. Brownie” (22:36) starts in a spacey groovy psych way becoming weirdly ‘out-of-space’ acting like a psych mantra for the soul, really mind-expanding with a melancholy organ sound while guitars are getting heavier, it seems that the singer is having an out-of-body experience in a psychedelic vein! Another dominated-by-singer’s-voice track is “Ride Ridden Shine” (11:56) that starts like a psych improvisational experiment in an eerie jazzy atmosphere. Last one is “Homesick Tours” (10:23), a trippy psychedelic slow-driven dreamy relaxing tune with a few effected sounds. Think I’m inside Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast… Think I’m going to break a few eggs and make a psychedelic omelet too… TimeLord Michalis

Another Nasoni record destined to be a classic by its first day of release. Two promising bands sharing from each side of this split (only LP) release. Prisma Circus are a powerful trio, born in 2010 in Catalonia, Barcelona and A side includes their debut EP (released earlier in February as a digital download). Opening track “The Great Car” is an early 70s heavy rock number with a psych middle section getting harder with a distinctive acid guitar sound as the grooves spin. “Paradox” is a mix of early Thin Lizzy with Captain Beyond, a wild heavy n’ roll tune with lots of fuzzy wah wah guitars and bluesy vocals. “The Light” is a Zeppelinesque Hendrix flavored dynamic song with hot guitar licks becoming alternately from hard to more blues psych. Side closes with “The Genius” a heavy blues number with echoed vocals. Inspired band with excellent song writing, the future is theirs. Nomega are an energetic improvisational jam quartet hailing from Timisoara, Romania, existing no longer than 2 years and this is a demo EP recorded earlier this year that occupies Side B of this split album. Just 2 tracks, will do the job. “Samsara (Ebb & Flow)” starts hypnotically becoming a psych-stoner jam with various tempo changes and lots of ‘psyched’ guitar noise on the background while “Mountain Tusk (Collision & Collapse)” shows its intentions from the very first second. A wild stoner with a few dispersed words (is it stoner-psych poetry? Cool!!!) and when the speech is over, psych weirdness takes the leading role in a psychedelic guitar driven sound. We are here to worship sound. “We are here to influence your psyche. WE ARE HERE TO MAKE SOME NOISE!” Well done boys, it took you less than 20min to succeed! TimeLord Michalis

This is the 2^nd release by this heavy-stoner-psych band hailing from Eastern Europe (Ukraine) and by now you must have learned that if it’s on Nasoni Records then the ‘musical’ quality is guaranteed. Album kicks off with “Bright Like The Morning” (8:40), starting in a slow vein, becoming a fast stoner psych tune and reducing speed at the end. “Electric Mistress” (9:20) makes you wonder where the hell those decibels are coming from, with its 70s hard rock feel and the image of a really young Ozzy singing in a Tool record. Atmosphere becomes heavy mystical in the middle thanks to all those Sabbath slow torturous riffs. Side A closes with “Indian” (5:00), another Sabbathetic stoner. Side B opens with the Magnificent “I’m The Mountain” (12:45), an epic prog tune starting in a slow acoustic way, becoming progressively a heavy psych stoner journey with inspired lyrics. Album closes with “Stormy Monday” (not the classic one) (9:35), a mid-tempo stoner balladesque song, slowing down when lyrics are entering, with a Monster Magnet feel (circa Superjudge). An inspired combination of stoner and psych under a heavy rock 70s vein in an astonishing fresh way! TimeLord Michalis

I’m starting with the only info that I have on this ‘expected’ release. It will be a double splatter LP and digipack CD. So, I’m holding a CDR that Lulu – Electric Moon’s bassist – sent me so I can use the track “Kleiner Knaller” on issue’s CD comp. The band, allowed me to review it, , so… Just 5 tracks with an almost 70min length, in an amazing spacetrip somewhere across the borders of our solar system. Album takes off with “Doomsday Machine” (19:36), a long ‘acid-space-punk’ improvisational jam which surprisingly enough includes vocals, of course in a chaotic and distorted way that fit well with the music that towards its end becomes really creepy & doomy. “Kleiner Knaller” (5:16) is a rhythmic, more speedy tune, one of those cosmic-psych-spacers that only Electric Moon can provide the Earthians… “Spaceman” (13:16) is a lysergic ‘complex’ of sounds & effects starting in an accelerated way but gradually is reducing power, till the engines are off. The most precious material in the outer space is Stardust. There’s no spaceship without it. We’re into a magnetic colourful space field of stardust with a ‘service’ trying to collect it so we can fill our deposit. That’s what is all about the 19:46 “Stardust”. Album reaches its untimely destination with the 21:44 “Feigenmonolog”, a looooong instrumental space jam with extra-terrestrial driven adventurous guitar sound… Beam up Mr. Sula! TimeLord Michalis

THE LOCKED WARD - Voyages Into The Inner Psych Of…

The Locked Ward are from Norwich, England. I have no other information about them as the only thing I have is a CDR from their upcoming album on Nasoni Records, that one of the members, Craig, kindly enough offered to send over in case I liked it and wanted to do a review. Not only I loved it, not only I’m reviewing it, but also I aired it through my radio-show quite a few times! This band will definitely keep us pretty busy in the near future… So, let’s focus to the music… Album kicks off with the 90sec “Intro To Madness”, I don’t know if it’s an Intro to Madness, but I’m positive that it’s an Intro to Psychness and to Heavyness. “Moving At The Pace Of Valium” is a chaotic psych-rock tune with a lot going on at the background (like tons of feedback). Starts fast but becomes slower, a swirling guitar sound, screams, pounding drums and a voice of a really young Ozzy. “Breaker Of Lives And Souls” is more heavy, more into a psych vein with speedy guitar sound and distinctive bass becoming really trippy psychedelic towards its end (you can listen it on the CD comp of the issue). “All I see Brightly In The Darkness” is a beautiful mid-tempo psych ballad taken straight from the 70s. “Voices In My Mind (Head Caverns)” is a hot-rocker with lots of feedback and a wonderful adventurous guitar solo and continuous ups and downs. “Am I Sick” is a wonderful smooth electric ballad with deep self-exploration lyrics while “As They Lay Sleeping (The Defining Art Of Self Despondancy)” is taken straight from The Masters Of Reality sessions. Next is the long “Words Can Only Echoe The Sadness That The Hours Bring” (11:48), starts in a moody, fuzzy torturous psyche way with a couple of killer speed ups alongside and ends in a mess of feedback sounds. Last one is the title track of the album “Voyages Into The Inner Psych Of…”, 8min and 30sec of pure psych creepy atmosphere with noises, tons of feedback (yes again, any problem?), strange effects, screams, breaths while Craig is spitting the words of a poem or something, really weird and I’d have to ask the guys if they’re just fooling around in the studio or did someone unlock the ward and the insane asylum is now open to the public or the opposite(got it?)….Great Effort… Invest… TimeLord Michalis
